    SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Installation Procedures Warning: Please ensure that the Device’s power is turned OFF and the power cable is unplugged before removing the cover to replace or install the SSD. Serious damage may occur if an SSD is removed or installed while the power is ON. Even though many devices support SATA’s Hot Plugging (Hot Swapping) feature, Samsung strongly recommends to turn the power OFF before starting the installation process.

Install the new SSD into the SSD Cage and return the cage into the chassis. For more information, refer to Installing the SSD on page 10.
  • Page 9 SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Unmounting the SDS Server from the Server Rack To unmount the SDS Server from the Server Rack, do the following: • While supporting the weight of the SDS Server, remove the four (4) mounting screws that secure the Server to the Server Rack, and then lift the Server off the rack.

    SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Removing the Top Cover To remove the Top Cover, follow these steps: 1. Remove five (5) screws from the chassis (two on each side and one on the back), as shown in the image below. 2.
  • Page 11 SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Removing the SSD To remove the SSD, follow these steps: 1. Remove four (4) screws from the bottom that secure the SSD Cage to the chassis. 2. Remove the SSD Cage from the chassis.
  • Page 12 SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) 3. Do the following:. • Remove the top four (4) screws to detach the top SSD. • Remove the bottom (4) screws to detach the bottom SSD. 4. Disconnect the SATA and power cables. 5. Slide out the SDD from the SDD Cage.

    SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Installing the Top Cover To install the Top Cover, follow these steps: 1. Place the Top Cover on the chassis, as shown in the image below. 2. Secure the Top Cover using five (5) screws (two on each side and one on the back).
  • Page 16 SDS Server Solid-State Drive (SSD) Mounting the Server on the Server Rack To mount the SDS Server to the Server Rack, align its mounting holes with the through-holes of the Server Rack, and then secure the Server with four (4) mounting screws.
