Cold Engine Operations

DRIVE
BELTS
(a)
Visually check the drive belts for cracks, oiliness or
wear. Check that the belt does not touch the bottom
of the pulley groove.
\f necessary, replace the drive belt.
(b)
Using a belt tension gauge, check the drive belt ten-
sion.

Remove the old belts.
(b)
Install! a new belt and adjust it to the specified ten-
sion.

"Used belt' refers to a belt which has been used on a
running engine for 5 minutes or more,
After replacing the drive belt, check that it fits properly
in the ribbed grooves, especially in the places difficult to
see,

Visually check for oil leakage.

Check the hoses for loose or bad connections.
(c)
Check the hoses for damage or cracks.
Squeeze the hoses to check for internal breakdown,
If soft, replace.

Remove the old oil hoses,
(b)
Install new oil hoses.
After replacing, start the engine and check for oil leaks.
NOTE:
Check for oil leaks in the next step, after engine
oil and oil filter replacement.

With the engine warm, remove the oil drain plug and
drain the oil.
(b)
Clean and install the oil drain plug with the gasket.
(c)
Fill the engine with new oil, API grade CC, CD or
better,
