PREPARING TO USE YOUR COFFEEMAKER
Carefully unpack the appliance from its packaging and check that all parts are present. Remove
any promotional labels or stickers and safely dispose of plastic bags or small pieces that could
present a su ocation or choking hazard.
1. Before using your co eemaker for the rst time, wash the lter basket, reusable gold-tone lter,
carafe, and carafe lid by hand in warm sudsy water or on the top rack of your dishwasher. Rinse
and dry thoroughly.
2. Wipe the warming plate and the outside of the co eemaker with a clean, damp cloth to remove
any dirt or dust. Do not immerse the co eemaker body, control panel, power cord, or electrical
plug in any liquid. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads.
NOTE - NEVER clean the warming plate unless it is completely cool.
NEVER immerse the co eemaker in water or any other liquid.
DO NOT use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads when cleaning the unit.
3. After washing the co eemaker parts, ll the water reservoir with cold water up to the 12 cup
marking. Follow the instructions in the MANUAL COFFEE BREWING section on the following
pages to run the water through the machine but do not add any co ee grounds. This will remove
any residue left over from the manufacturing process.
4. When the cycle is nished, discard the heated water and rinse the carafe. Your Kenmore Elite
Grind & Brew Co eemaker is now ready to use.

OPERATING YOUR COFFEEMAKER

CONTROL
PANEL
ON/OFF
Press the ON/OFF button to power the machine on or o or to start or stop the current operation.
The button will light up when the machine is powered on.
HOUR and MIN
Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the clock and program the timer for automatic brewing.
Pressing the HOUR button cycles through 1-12 AM and 1-12 PM and pressing the MIN button
cycles through 00-59 minutes. Holding down each button will cycle through the options more
quickly.
