SAFETY
Please read the owner's manual for your power unit
(tractor/AUV/UTV) before assembling or operating
your Tarter implement. Know the power unit controls
and how to stop the engine in an emergency.
Train all new personnel and review instructions
frequently with existing workers. Only an adequately
trained and physically able person should operate
the machinery. A person who has yet to read and
understand all the operating and safety instructions
is not qualified to use the machinery. An untrained
operator exposes themselves and bystanders to
possible serious injury or death. If older adults are
assisting with farm work, their physical limitations
must be recognized and accommodated.
This Tarter implement can be dangerous to children
and persons unfamiliar with its operation. Under no
circumstances should children under 18 be allowed
to operate the power unit or the Tarter implement.
Follow all safety rules and safety decal information.
Location of such safety decals are indicated in this
manual. Replace any safety decal that is illegible or
missing.
Never use alcoholic beverages or drugs that can
hinder alertness or coordination while operating
the power unit or the Tarter implement. Consult
your doctor about using this machine while taking
prescription medications.
Never exceed the limits of any piece of machinery,
whether the power unit or the Tarter implement. If its
ability to perform a job safely is in questions, DO NOT
TRY IT.
Do not modify the Tarter implement in any way.
Unauthorized modification could result in severe
injury or death, may impair the function and life of
the implement, and may void the warranty.
Some photographs or illustrations in this manual may
show an assembly with a safety shield removed to
provide a better view. However, a Tarter implement
should never be operated in this condition. Keep all
shields in place. If shield removal becomes necessary
for repairs, replace the shield before use.

PREPARATION
Thoroughly read and understand this operator's
manual, the ATV/UTV operator's manual, and each of
the messages found on the safety signs on the ATV/
UTV and Manure Spreader before attempting to use
the equipment.
Personal protective equipment, including a hard
hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves,
is recommended during assembly, installation,
operation, adjustment, maintenance, repair, removal,
or transport of the implement. Keep long hair, loose-
fitting clothing, and jewelry away from equipment
and moving parts.
PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO LOUD NOISE MAY
CAUSE PERMANENT HEARING LOSS! ATVs and
UTVs, with or without attachments, can often be
noisy enough to cause permanent hearing lostt. We
recommend wearing hearing protection if the noise
in the operator's position exceeds 80 dB. Noise over
80 dB on a long-term basis can cause severe hearing
loss. Noise over 90 dB adjacent to the operator over a
long-term basis may cause permanent, total hearing
loss.
NOTE: Hearing loss from loud noise (from loader,
tractor, skid steer, chain saws, radios, and other
sources close to the ear) is cumulative over a lifetime
without hope of natural recovery.
Operate only in daylight or good artificail light.
Ensure the implement is correctly attached to the
power unit, all hardware is installed, and the unit is in
good operating condition.
Tighten all hardware to torque chart specifications
unless this manual states otherwise.
Ensure that any safety shielding and safety signs
are properly installed. Safety shielding should be in
good working condition, and all safety signs should
be readable.
