Figure 27. Removing the display assembly
Steps
1. Remove the two screws (M1.6x4) that secures the display cable to the system board.
2. Disconnect the display cable from the display cable connector (JEDP1) on the system board.
3. Remove the display cable interposer board from the system board.
CAUTION:
Service technicians must remove the interposer board immediately after disconnecting the display
cable to prevent the board from falling out of the computer. The pins on the interposer board are fragile.
Avoid contact with the pins on the board, instead handle the board by lifting and holding from the edges or
the sides.
4. Remove the two screws (M1.6x3.5) that secures the display cable holder to the palm-rest assembly.
5. Open the display to a 90-degree angle and place the computer at the edge of a flat table.
6. Remove the six screws (M2.5x5.5) that secure the left and right hinges of the display assembly to the system board and
palm-rest assembly.
7. Lift the display assembly off the palm-rest assembly.
8. After performing all the above steps, you are left with the display assembly.
NOTE:
The display assembly is a Hinge-Up Design (HUD) assembly and cannot be further disassembled once it is
removed from the palm-rest assembly. If any components in the display assembly are malfunctioning and must be
replaced, replace the entire display assembly.
