About this task
CAUTION:
The heat-sink assembly may become hot during normal operation. Allow sufficient time for the
heat-sink assembly to cool before you touch it.
NOTE:
For maximum cooling of the processor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the heat-sink assembly. The oils in
your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal grease.
The following image indicates the location of the heat-sink assembly and provides a visual representation of the removal
procedure.
Steps
1. Disconnect the left fan cable (JFAN1) and right fan cable (JFAN2) from the system board.
2. Remove the four screws (M1.6x3) that secure the left and right fans to the palm-rest assembly.
3. In reverse sequential order (3>2>1), loosen the three captive screws that secure the heat-sink assembly to the system
board.
4. Lift the heat-sink assembly off the system board.
