3.3 PREPARING THE TRACTION UNIT

1. Position the mower on a flat surface.
2. Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and remove key.
3. Raise the deck to the transport position (Fig.11).
4. Place blocks under the edges of the mower deck skirt (Fig. 4).
5. Lower the mower deck until it is safely resting onto the blocks (Fig. 4).
6. Remove the (4) top mower deck chain bolts to disconnect the mower from the front frame
(Fig. 4).
7. Remove the deck drive belt from the mower deck idler pulley to loosen the belt.
8. Remove the deck drive belt from the PTO clutch.
9. Remove all hardware from the struts to disconnect the mower from the front frame (Fig. 4).
10. Slide mower deck out from under the front frame. Set aside all components for reuse.
11. Remove and discard the 6 front frame bolts (3 from each side) . Retain the washers and
whizlock nuts to be reused (Fig 4).
12. Attach a support plate to each side of the traction unit frame using 3 bolts (3/8 x 1-1/2 in.)
and the washers and whizlock nuts that were removed in step 11 (Fig. 5). Torque the bolts
to 30 ft.-lb. (41 N⋅m).
