ACTIVE RECEPTION key
When
this key is pressed, the indicator to the left of it
lights.
When ACTIVE RECEPTION is ON, the RF SELECTOR and
FM IF BANDs are automatically switched to provide the
most optimum reception condition.
The RF selector indicators and the FM IF BAND indicators
light automatically according
to the current
reception
condition.
RF SELECTOR key
Along with the increase of stations, the RF intermodula-
tion or intermodulation noise becomes serious. To prevent
this, the
RF SELECTOR
key is provided.
It is recom-
mended to use this key together with the FM IF BAND key
for the best reception according to the receiving condi-
tion.
DIRECT: When this key is pressed, the RF intermodula-
tion or intermodulation noise will be reduced and the
best quality sound is obtained. In a strong-signal area
set to this position for greater sound quality.
DISTANCE: When a distant station is required, set to this
position. The receiving ability is improved so that the
weak-signai station can be received with lower noise.
FM IF BAND
key
This
key switches
the intermediate
frequency
passing
band between "WIDE" and "NARROW".
When listening
in an area where there is no radio interference, press the
key so that the "FM IF BAND" indicator lights to indicate
the WIDE
mode:
High-quality sound without distortion
can be recording.
When
interference
is noticed, set the key off for the
NARROW
mode: The radio wave selectivity is improved,
thereby resulting interference free reception.
Note: ————______
During AM
broadcast reception, the indicator does not light up
and the switch function is defeated.

REC CAL (Record Calibration) key
Setting of an optimum recording level is indispensable for
recording FM broadcast with high-quality sound.
How-
ever, it is a fairly difficult job to set the optimum recording
level for FM broadcast because of its large output level
variation. To facilitate this operation, this unit is equipped
with the REC CAL key which, when it is ON, outputs an
approximately 400 Hz signal (with a level corresponding
to 50%
FM
modulation)
continuously
at the OUTPUT
jacks. The optimum
recording level can be set easily by
adjusting so that the VU meter of the tape deck indicates
—6 dB, or 50% with that signal.
Auto stereo/mono key (AUTO ST./MONO)
AUTO
ST.: The
tuner switches
automatically
between
stereo
and
monaural
operation
according
to the
mode in which the selected station is opening.
MONO: Provides monaural
operation
regardless of the
transmitting mode.
HIGH SENS. LEVEL key
The auto-stop level for the AUTO TUNING
mode can be
switched to "HIGH" or "LOW".
Use the "LOW"
setting
when the tuning is stopped too often due to too good
reception condition of night, etc. When the key is set to
HIGH, SENS. LEVEL indicator on the left light.
