4.4.2 Inspection

To inspect the photo-eyes, use the following procedure.
1.
Check the photo-eye LED indicators for power and alignment. Green indicates the
photo-eye is powered. Amber indicates alignment with the reflector.
2.
Ensure the photo-eye lens is clean and not cracked or broken.
3.
Ensure the reflector is clean and not cracked or broken.
4.
Ensure the connection plug is firmly seated in the zone control module.
5.
Flag the photo-eye and ensure that the zone control valve is connected to the photo-
eye, exhausts air, and removes drive from the rollers. The Pallet Accuglide conveyor
has ZoneFlex valve modules with the release mode switch set at the "2" position,
therefore it will be necessary to simultaneously block the photo-eye in the
downstream zone. Remove the flag and ensure the valve supplies air to the zone
and restores the drive to the rollers.

4.4.3 Photo-Eye Removal

Use the following procedure to remove the photo-eye.
1.
Turn off and lockout/tagout all power and air supply to the conveyor section,
including the photo-eye power source.
2.
At the photo-eye location, disconnect the photo-eye cable.
3.
Loosen the ball mount clamping screw. Refer to the illustration on the following
page.
4.
Pull the photo-eye out of the ball mount.

4.4.4 Photo-Eye Installation

1.
Turn off power and lockout/tagout all power supply to the conveyor.
2.
If the new photo-eye does not have a ball pre-installed, remove the ball from the old
photo-eye and install it onto the replacement photo-eye.
3.
Insert the photo-eye into the ball mount bracket.
