    General safety precautions Carefully follow the precautions listed as below because they are essential to guarantee the safety of Thermia product. Store the manual in a safe place in order to be able to use it as reference after installation. Remember to hand it over to the new owner if the heat pump unit is sold or transferred.

    Commissioning iTec XT Configuration of control system Commissioning The installation may only be commissioned if the hydraulic system has Caution been filled and bled. Otherwise circulation pump can be damaged. If the installation is only to be driven by the auxiliary heater during the installation, ensure that the heating system is filled and compressor cannot be started.
  • Page 12 Commissioning iTec XT The default heat pump size setting at shipping is NO SIZE (indicated by an asterisk next to the English text). This means that the compres- sor cannot start and the installer must first select language and a then heat pump size before leaving this menu.

    If the heat demand is greater than the heat pump’s compressor capacity, the auxiliary heater engages automatically in operating mode AUTO. iTec XT Total has three outputs, IMM. HEAT 1, IMM. HEAT 2 (factory default) and IMM. HEAT 3 and output can be controlled in five steps.

    The potential free outputs must be used. If a multi power stage heater is installed, use the settings in the chap- ter above: "Activate the electrical immersion heater in iTec XT Total, iTec XT Compact and iTec XT Plus" The following settings are made in the Service Menu. If not already in the Service Menu, enter the Service Menu by pressing and holding for at least 5 seconds.

    Commissioning iTec XT Set hot water start temperature and activate hot water The default hot water start temperature in COMFORT-mode and ECO-mode is 40°C, and 25°C in AWAY-mode. If another start temperature is desired, change the start temperature setting in the Service Menu. If not already in the Service Menu, enter the Service Menu by pressing and holding for at least 5 seconds.

    Commissioning iTec XT Hot water mode HOT WATER switched on will enable hot water production. If you should want a prioritization on the amount of hot water and a faster hot water production you should change mode to either ECO or COMFORT. By activating TOP-UP the heat pump can immediately start to heat the water heater using the compressor and electrical auxiliary heater until the tank is fully heated.

    There are three available mixing valve options: ▪ Mixing valve (Activation, see chapter "Activate the external auxiliary heater in iTec XT Standard") ▪ Distribution circuit (DISTR. CIRCUIT) 1 ▪ Distribution circuit (DISTR. CIRCUIT) 2 (Requires expansion card) The mixing valve is used between the heat pump, an external auxiliary heater (may be an oil burner or equivalent) and the heating system.

    Activation of optimum circulation (variable speed) pump The Optimum circulation pump is factory installed in iTec XT. It is default ON from factory and has to be deactivated for iTec XT Standard If fixed speed circulation pump is used, which may be the case for iTec XT Standard, the optimum function should be turned off.

    If any functions are activated after the FIND MIN.FLOW sequence is done, they will have their respective default setting. For iTec XT Standard, with fixed speed circulation pump, the flow has to be set from MANUAL TEST. Make sure the "F" symbol is present in the display after finishing the test.

  • Page 22 Commissioning iTec XT It may take a while before the search is completed and the result is dis- played. You may continue with other parts of the commissioning that are independent of the search for a min. flow. Press several times to navigate back to the Service Menu.
  • Page 23 Commissioning iTec XT Start with a high setting, for example 100%. Check that the circulation pump is running by listening, placing a hand on the circulation pump and listen for air in the system. If no flow is registered at 100%, check the system for air and bleed if necessary.

    Commissioning iTec XT Manual test The installation may only be commissioned if the heating system and Caution water heater have been filled and bled. Otherwise the circulation pump can be damaged. Any alarms that may occur in connection with the installation must be Caution fault-traced.

    Commissioning iTec XT Tuning the system 11.1 Tuning the heating system To obtain a heating system balance and obtain an even and comfortable indoor temperature, the heating system may need adjustment according to the example below. The indoor temperature is adjusted by changing the heat curve. The heat curve calculates the supply temperature depending on the outdoor temperature.

  • Page 52 Commissioning iTec XT 11.6 FLOW FACTOR The flow factor is used to compensate for deviating pressure drops in pipe system. A system with high pressure drop needs to be com- pensated by a factor greater than 1 to get the full effect from outdoor unit. The preset value works for most systems. Keep in mind that a high flow can create unwanted noise in the pipe system.

ALL errors will stop the compressor from running until the error is solved.
