The low aspect ra tio of t hese tir es is ind icated by
a numera l of
55 or less
in the ti re's size design a -
tion. The numera l rep resents the rat io of t he
tire's sidewall height in relation to its tread widt h
expressed in pe rcentage. Conventional t ires have
a height/w idt h rat io of 60 or more.
The performance of low-aspect-ratio tire s is par-
ticularly sensitive to improper inflation pres-
sure. It is therefore important that low aspect
ratio tires are inflated to the specified pressure
and that the inflation pressure is regularly
checked and maintained . Tire pressures should
be checked at least once a month and always
before a long trip

What you can do to avoid tire and rim
damage
Low aspect rat io tires can be damaged more easi-
ly by impact with pot holes, curbs, gul lies or
ridges on the road, pa rt icula rly if the t ire is un-
de rinflated.
In order to minimize the occurrence of impact
damage to t he t ires of your ve hicle, we recom-
mend that you obse rve the fo llow ing precau -
tions:
- Always mai ntai n recommended
inflation pres-
su res . Check your tire pressure every 2,000
miles (3, 0 00 km) and add a ir if necessa ry.
- Drive carefully on roads with potho les, deep
gul lies or ridges . The impact from d riving
th rough or over such obs t acles can damage
your ti res. Im pact with a curb may also cause
damage to you r tires.
- After any impact, immediately inspect your
t ires o r have them inspe ct ed by the nea res t au -
thorized Audi dea le r. Replace a damaged tire as
soon as possib le .
- Inspect your t ires every 2,00 0 miles (3,0 0 0 km)
for damage and wear. Damage is not always
easy to see . Damage can lead to loss of air and
underinflation, which could eventually cause
tire failure. If you believe that a tire may have
been damaged, rep lace the t ire as soon as pos-
s ible.
- These tires may wear more qu ickly than others.

- Please also remember t hat, while these tires
deliver responsive han dli ng, they may ride less
comfortab ly and make mo re noise than other
choices.
Reduced performance in winter / cold season
conditions
All t ires are des igned for certain purposes . The
low aspect ratio, ultra high performance tires
origina lly installed on your vehicle are intended
for maximum dry and wet road performance and
handling. They a re not sui t able for cold, snowy or
icy weather conditions . If you drive under those
circumstances, you should eq uip your vehicle
with all-season or winte r tire s, which offer better
t ract ion un d er t hose condi t ions. We suggest you
use the recommended
snow or a ll-season tires
spec ified for your vehicle, or the ir equiva lent.

Uniform tire quality grading

- Tempe ratur e A B C
Quality grades can be found where applicable on
t he tire side wall between tread sho ulder and
max imum section width

For example:
Tread wear
200 ,
Traction
AA,
Tem-

A.
All passenger car t ires must conform to Fede ral
Safety Requ irements in addition to these grades .
Tread wear
The
tread wear
g rade is a comparative rating
based on the wear rate of the tire when tested
under controlled conditions on a specified gov-
ernment test course.
For exa mple , a tire graded 15 0 wou ld wear one
and one half (1 1/2) times as we ll on the govern-
ment course as a ti re graded 100.
The re lat ive pe rformance of tires depends upo n
the actual cond itions of the ir use, however, and
may depa rt sig nificantly from the norm due to
