Automatic transmission BW 35
The oil level should be checked every
6000 miles (10000 km). The filler pipe with
graduated dipstickis to be found under
the hood just in front of the firewall.
Note. The dipstick has different graduation
marks for a warm and cold transmission.
When the oil level is being checked, the
car should be standing level. With the en-
gine idling in position "P", the level should
be between the upper and lower gradua-
tion marks on the dipstick. When topping-
up is necessary, use only Automatic Trans-
mission Fluid, Type F.
The
oil
in
the
automatic transmission
should be changed every 24000 miles
(40000 km).
The dipstick should be wiped with a cloth,
paper, etc., but not with anything that
leaves fluff on the dipstick.

Rear axle
The oil level in the rear axle should be
checked af ter every 6 000 miles (10 000
km). The oil level should be up to the filler
hole. If necessary top up with the recom-
mended oil. The oil in the rear axle should
be changed after the first 1500 miles
(2500 km). The old oil is drained off by
removing the bottom plug. After this only
the oil level need be checked and top-
ping-up with recommended oil carried out
if required.
The oil should then be warm and the mag-
netic plug must be weil c leaned
.
It is of
great importance to the lifetime of the final
drive that particles and impurities from
running-in are removed
.
