Building a Basic Circuit
Introduction
Welcome to module ELS22, Building a Basic Circuit.
Module Prerequisites
Before starting this module, you should review the Electrical Subject Area Map for any prerequisites.
Why This Module is Important
Being able to recognize and understand the operation of different types of circuits will aid your understanding of how each
type of circuit works. This will make reading schematics and troubleshooting circuits on the vehicle much easier when you
encounter these tasks later in your electrical training
Module Overview
In this module, you will demonstrate your knowledge of basic circuits, then build several basic circuits and explain how each
works. You will also predict voltage, current, and resistance readings at various points in the circuits using basic circuit rules.
Objective
Upon completion of this module, you will demonstrate your ability to build and explain the operation of the following circuits:
·
Build and explain the operation of the following circuits.
• Series circuits.
• Series circuits with multiple loads.
• Parallel circuits.
• Parallel circuits with a 4- or 5-pin relay.
·
Describe the differences between Switch-to-ground and Load-to-ground circuits.
·
Predict voltage, current, and resistance readings using basic circuit rules.
At the end of the module, you will evaluate what you learned about building a basic circuit.
