    SAFETY INFORMATION IMPORTANT! (U.K. only) This unit is supplied in the U.K. with mains lead fitted with a moulded 13 amp plug. If, for any reason, it is necessary to remove the plug, please remove the fuse holder and dispose of the plug safely, out of reach of children.

    Do not remove any covers or try to gain access to the inside. There are no internal adjustments or fuses you can replace yourself. Refer all service work to an authorised Musical Fidelity agent. * Note: Unauthorised opening of the equipment will invalidate any warranty claim.

    INSTALLATION Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of the new Nu-Vista DAC. Great attention has been paid to internal layout, isolating each circuit section to prevent possible interaction. The unit features a finely tuned and tweaked Nu- Vista valve design, for smooth sound coupled with low noise and virtually no distortion. This unit will deliver the ultimate performance possible from any digital source.
  • Page 8 Trigger Input and Output Triggering input and outputs are available to allow the DAC to be turned on automatically by other equipment or turn on other equipment automatically when the Nu-Vista DAC is turned on. This is a 2-way 3.5mm jack on the back of the unit labelled “TRIGGER”.

  • Page 10 The universal remote control shown below enables functions from this and related units to be operated from a convenient distance. Equivalent buttons on the remote control have the same functions as those on the front panel of the unit. Other functions are only available by remote control.

    • Linux kernel 2.6.33 or later (no driver required) • Apple OS X® 10.6.4 or later (no driver required) • Windows 10 Creators Edition or later (driver found on included CD or on Musical Fidelity website) For playing native DSD on Windows a driver installation is required.

    Menu Navigation Enter the menu by pressing Enter 6 or the up/down/right arrow button on the remote. Use the Back 5 and Enter 6 buttons to enter sub-menus or go a step back. On the remote this is done with the left and right arrow buttons.

    Sample Rate Displays the sample rate of the incoming audio signal. Digital Oversampling FIR Filter Displays the currently set digital oversampling FIR filter. Choose your digital filter in the Audio Settings -> Digital Filters sub-menu or by pressing the FILTER UP and FILTER DOWN buttons on the remote. For a detailed description of each filter see page 14.

    192kHz sample rate is resampled to the sampling frequency of 352,8kHz or 384kHz according to the original multiple of the sampling frequency. If upsampling is active, a corresponding icon is shown. Note: Upsampling is automatically turned off for 705,6k and 768kHz sample rates.     Digital Filters The Nu-Vista DAC allows for detailed tuning of the audio experience. It comes with multiple preset reconstruction filters built-in. Musical purists can simply unpack the Nu-Vista DAC, carefully cable it up, just leave it at its standard settings and feel the immediate musical integration: the whole sound is sweet and clear; the treble is completely grain free and extended.
