Adjusting
the sound
Muting
the sound
Press MUTE to temporarily turn oft the sound. Wl_ile the somld is
of_; the screen will briefly display the word MUTE in the lower right
corner. To restore tt_e sound, press MUTE again.
Wl_en you press MUTE, the CLOSED CAPTION
feature is
automatically activated. To deactivate this f'eature, press MUTE again.
This f'eature works only when tl_e Closed Caption mode is set to OFE

Using the MTS feature
to select
stereo/SAP
broadcasts
The MTS (multi<'hamlel TV sound) feature provides higl>fideli b"
stereo sound. Tile MTS feature also can transmit a second audio
program (SAP) containing a second language, music, or otller audio
infbrmation
(when provided by individual statkms).
When tile TV receives a stereo or SAP broadcast, the word
"STEREO" or "SAP" appears on-screen eveU time tlle TV is turned
on, the clmnne! is changed, or RECALL is pressed.
Note:
The/VITS feat_Jre is not available when the TV is /h VIDEO mode.
To listen to stereo sound:
1. Press MENU, and then press @ or _ mltil the AUDIO men_t
appears.
2. Press A or V to highlight MTS.
3. Press "_ or I_ to highlight STR.

Ybt*can leave your TV in STR mode because it automatically
outputs the type of sound being broadcast (stereo or monaural).
if the stereo sound is nois> select MONO
to reduce tt_e noise.
The word "STR" or "SAP" displays in yellow in the mem_ when
the TV receives the signal.
To listen to SAP (if available):
1. Press MENU, and then press @ or _ mltil the AUDIO men_t
appears.
2. Press A or _' to ldghligi_t MTS.
3. Press @ or _ to highlight SAE >_u will hear the station's second
audio program (if"available) from the speakers while viewing the
original program_ picture. See *,_om at right.
