Tips on Editing Tapes
The following functions are convenient for editing your own
tapes.

after a Desired Duration — Time Fade
You can have the play fade out at the end by designating
the play duration. Once time fade is set, it functions twice
for editing both sides of a tape. You can change discs
without canceling this function. The fade time is preset to 5
seconds.

To set time fade
1 Press EDIT/TIME FADE twice during stop.
(") is displayed on the display.
2 Set the desired play duration by pressing ki<j/>r1 and

¢ To set the minute
Each time <i<i/> is pressed, the display changes in
the following order:

C-74 (37.00 min.) — C-60 (30.00 min.) — C-54 (27.00 min.)
¢ To set the second
Each time «</> is pressed, the seconds will be set
in 10 second shifts.

¢ The desired play duration can be set up to 59 minutes
50 seconds.
3 To start playback, press >.

After the designated time, playback.fades out and the unit
enter the pause mode. Tape side B. lights up. Press & or
il to resume playback for the other side of the tape.
When the playback fades out for the second time, the unit
enters the pause mode and the time fade function is
canceled.
When playback ends in the duration of time fade
Time fade function will be kept on . Change the disc and
start playback automatically. When the total playing time is
within some seconds before the designated time, the piayer
fades out.
To cancel time fade
Time fade will be canceled when
- EDIT/TIME FADE is pressed once again.

To display the time remaining until the time set
Press TIME twice.
if PEAK SEARCH is pressed after setting time fade
Time fade is released but peak search is kept active.
Cleaning the Heads and Tape Path
Clean after every 10 hours of operation and before
recording for optimum record/playback quality.
1 Press m &.
2 Slightly moisten the tip of a cotton swab with cleaning
fluid or alcohol.
3 Wipe heads, pinch rollers and capstans.

Do not insert a cassette until cleaned areas are completely
dry.
Demagnetizing the Heads
After 20 to 30 hours of use, it is necessary to remove
residual magnetism built up on the head. Turn off the power
and demagnetize heads with any commercially available
demagnetizer.
Cleaning discs
Before playing, clean the disc with the cleaning cloth.
Wipe the disc from the center out.
Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner, commercially
available cleaners or anti-static spray intended for analog
discs.
Notes on handling discs
© To keep the disc clean, handle the disc by its edge. Do
not touch the surface.
Do not stick paper or tape on the disc.
¢ Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or heat sources
such as hot air ducts, or leave it in a car parked in direct
sunlight as temperature may rise considerably.
¢ After playing, store the disc in its case.
