Installation Instructions
You may need to be logged in as an administrator on your compu-

ter to install your modem.
USRobotics recommends uninstalling any other modems that are installed in
your system and unplugging all telephone cords connected to these modems.
Refer to your previous modem's documentation for instructions.
Step One: Physically Install the Modem in the Computer
1. Turn off your computer and all peripheral devices.
2. Unplug the power cord from your computer and remove the computer's
case.
3. Remove the screw and metal filler bracket for an available PCI slot in your
computer.
4. Hold the modem by its edges. Do not touch the contacts on the connec-
tor.
5. Insert the modem into the available PCI slot and press it firmly to seat it in
the connector.
6. Secure the modem with the screw from the metal filler bracket.
7. Replace your computer case.
Step Two: Connect the Modem to an Analog Telephone Line
The 56K PCI Faxmodem must be plugged in to an analogue
phone line only. Plugging your 56K PCI Faxmodem in to a digital
phone line may damage the modem.
Most office phones are wired through digital lines. Be sure you
know what type of line you have.
