TIMEX ELECTRIC WATCH
Battery Replacement
The energy which powers the Timex
Electric Watch is supplied by a miniature
battery. As with any battery, the active
agents within it wilt be exhausted in time,
necessitating battery replacement. When
replacement must be made, the following
procedures should be used.
1) Pull hand set wheel out to set
position.
2) Without depressing the hand set
wheel, remove the screw and plastic water
proofing washer located beneath the screw
head. Using tweezers as a lift, remove
wheel.
3) Using Timex crystal removing tool,
or conventional crystal lift, remove crystal.
Note: case back must not be removed.
4) Using caution, remove movement by
inverting watch case. If movement should
not drop out, use light pressure on hand
set stem protruding through case back,
being careful not to depress stem into run
ning position.
5) Inspect movement to be sure that
balance wheel is held in set position. If not,
reset balance wheel using following pro
cedures :
Hand set stem (A) should be in set posi
tion.
Rotate balance wheel (B) counterclock
wise until pin (C) catches in detent of stop
spring (D).
6) Remove spent battery from case. If
the battery removed from the case is gold
in color or is stamped with code consist
ing of a letter and a number (e.g., B2),
no exact replacement battery is obtainable.
Replacement must be made using the new
Timex battery (silver color). To adapt the
new battery to the caiSe, a round metal
filler and an insulating cap are supplied
with the battery. Insert the new battery
in the following manner.
a) Place round metal filler (E) on top
of contact spring in case back.
b) Place fresh battery (F) on top of
filler (E).
c) Place insulating cap (G) on top of
battery.
If the spent battery removed from the
case is silver in color or is stamped with
code consisting of two letters (e.g., BB),
use same procedure as above except do
not use metal filler (E).
7) Replace movement using caution to
insure that hand set stem enters pipe .in
case back correctly.
8) Replace crystal.
9) Replace hand set wheel. Note: Flat
on stem (H) should coincide with bump
on pipe of hand set wheel (J). Replace
waterproofing washer and screw.
