LUBRICATING THE MAINSPRING
SLIPPING TAIL
Barrel
To introduce oil between the slipping tail and the inside of
the barrel, hold the movement at about 45°, the barrel and
front frame uppermost. Using an oiler or paddle, wipe oil into
the space between the outside diameter of the barrel and the
barrel sweeping in the back frame. This oil will work up between
the slipping tail and the inside of the barrel.
