Put in FWD PLAY Mode. Push pinch roller shaft down
with the spring gauge, and push the pinch roller 1 to 2
mm away from the capstan and release slowly.
Read the spring gauge at the moment the pinch roller

METER
Insert a cassette torque meter (AJ-751179) and measure
in each mode.
For Fast Forward and Rewind, measure
at the end of
the tape when the tape has stopped running.
Forward of Reverse mode
Take up Toque:
25 to 45 g-cm
Back Tension Torque:
2 to 5 g-cm
Fast Forward or Rewind mode
Take up Torque:
70 to 150 g-cm

If the correct measurement is not obtained, replace the
pinch roller spring. Do the same for the reverse side.

Variable Resistor
Connect a frequency counter to Line Output terminal.
Playback a 1 ,OOOHz pre-recorded Test Tape (AT-750744),
or 3,150 Hz pre-recorded Test Tape (AT-751263), and
adjust the Tape Speed Adjustment Variable Resistor
(See Fig. 5-3) to obtain a tape speed of 1,000 + 3 Hz, or
3,150 + 10 Hz.
