MAINTENANCE
The @ Model 606A Signal Generator can be quickly
and
easily
converted to operate from a nominal
line voltage on either 115 or 230 volts rms and a
frequency of 50 to 1000 cps.
If the instrument is equipped witha special 115/230
volt power switch, conversion may be accomplished
without removing the unit from the cabinet. Loosen
the locknut and reverse the switch locking plate so
that the lever on the power switch may be thrown
to the
230 VOLT
position.
Tighten the locknut.
Replace the LINE fuse with the fuse listed in the
Table of Replaceable Parts for 230 volt operation.
See 115/230 V power switch schematic for details.
If the instrument is not equipped with the 115/230 V
power switch remove the instrument from its cabi-
net following the instructions given in the preceding
paragraph.
Remove
the two screws
holding the
silicon rectifier terminal board nearest the center
of the instrument (see Figure 4-1),
Find the five-
terminal
tie-strip (located near the lead-in hole
for the power cord going to the instrument) under
the silicon rectifier board.
Remove the shorting
jumpers from the five-terminal tie-strip. Comect
terminals
2 and 4 with an insulated jumper.
Re-
place the silicon rectifier terminal board. Remove
the LINE
fuse and replace with the value listed in
the
Table
of
Replaceable

TUBE REPLACEMENT
In many cases instrument malfunction can be cor-
rected by replacing a weak or defective tube. Be-
fore changing the setting ofany internal adjustment,
check the tubes,
Adjustments made in an atte-npt
to restore
operation when the cause is a defecr ive
tube will often complicate the repair problem. See
General Maintenance Information in paragrapht -1.
