USING THE SURROUND
EFFECTS
Whatis
a
effect?
The sound heard in places such as a concert hail or a
movie theather consists of a direct sound, a reflected sound
and a reverberative sound which reach you later than a
direct one. The acoustics of a room affect the way these
three sounds are heard. We can estimate the size or type of
a hall by listening to these three kind of sounds even with
our eyes closed.

'Selecting: Sorround Modes:

HALL
Provides the reverberation effect that is produced in a
concert hall. This mode is most appropriate for programs
with little reverberation, such as studio recordings.
You can adjust the reverberation time and surround levet.
STADIUM
Provides the effect of sound heard in a stadium. This mode
is also appropriate for programs with little reverberation,
such as studio recordings.
You can adjust the reverberation time and surround level.
LIVE
Provides the effect just of a real tive performance. This
mode is suitable for enjoying programs with a lot of
reverberation, or a movie without Dolby surround
Processing.
You can adjust the initial delay time and surround level.
SIMULATED
Gives a simulated stereo effect to monaural program
source. You can adjust the initial delay time and surround
level.
DOLBY
Decodes movie programs processed with the Dolby
surround etfect. It expands the sound to create a sound as
heard in a movie theather. You can adjust the intial delay
time and surround level.
