Instrument and control functions
With the engine turned off:
1. Set engine stop switch to run position.
2. Turn main switch to on position.
3. Shift transmission into gear.
4. Apply front or rear brake.
5. Push the start switch.
Does the engine start?
NO

6. Shift transmission into neutral.
7. Push the start switch.
Does the engine start?
YES
The system is OK.
The motorcycle can be ridden.
If a malfunction is found, have the
vehicle inspected before riding.
The neutral switch may not be working.
YES
The motorcycle should not be ridden
until checked by a Yamaha dealer.
The neutral switch may not be working.
NO
The motorcycle should not be ridden
until checked by a Yamaha dealer.
