The music search (MS) function will not operate cor-
rectly for the following types of tape.
1. Tapes are used which do not have approximately
4 seconds of unrecorded tape between selections.
2. Tape is used which has noise between the selec-
tions.
3. Tape contains selections with low level sounds

that continue for several seconds as in classical
music or with sections where the sound stops for
a few seconds in the middle of a selection.

TO LISTEN TO A CASSETTE TAPE
To go to the beginning of the currently playing track,
or the next track (tracks can be skipped to go to the
beginning of other tracks as well):
During playback:
During forward direction (») playback:
Press the rewind button (<4) one time to quickly
return to the beginning of the currently playing track.
Press the fast forward button (»®) one time to
quickly move to the beginning of the next track.
During reverse direction (<) playback:
Press the fast forward button (m»®) one time to
quickly return to the beginning of the currently play-
ing track.
Press the rewind button (4) one time to quickly
move to the beginning of the next track.
Skip Search (up to 15 tracks can be skipped
in either the forward or reverse direction):
Press the fast forward (m) or rewind (<4) buttons
as many times corresponding to the number of tracks
you wish to skip.
Example:
During playback of the third track in the
forward (») direction:
Press »® two times to move to the beginning of the
fifth track.
Press <4 two times to move to the beginning of the
second track.
MUSIC SEARCH DISPLAY
During the music search, both the search direction and
the number of tracks to be jumped are displayed.
TAPE COUNTER DISPLAY
The tape position counter is displayed in 4 digits.
To reset the counter to "0000,"
stop playback, then
press the main unit's stop button again.
4. Tape is played that contains a conversation or
other sounds with intermittent pauses.
5. Tape is used which has extremely small sounds
that continue more than 4 seconds during a se-
lection.
6. Tape is used which has an extremely low record-
ing level that is longer than 4 seconds.
7. Tapes containing selections which are less than
30 seconds.
Do not change the tape play direction during a mu-
sic search.
This may damage or stretch the tape.
