Setting the Local Control
Local Control On/Off
When the piano is connected to a MIDI sequencer,
the performance is recorded into the sequencer,
then the recorded data can be played back by the
sequencer.

[f the sequencer's THRU function is turned on, the
same notes will be combined and played. This
happens because the keyboard information
reaches the sound generator via two different
routes (1) and (2). This makes the performance
sound strange, and greatly reduces the number of
available voices. To resolve this, we can disable
route (1) by setting the unit to LOCAL OFF.
Loca] ON: In this mode, the keyboard and the
internal sound module are connected.
Local Off: The keyboard and_
the internal sound
module are disconnected. No sound will be heard
by playing the keyboard.

A MIDI sequencer is a device that records
performance data in the form of MIDI messages,
then plays it back. Roland offers the MC-50mk
Il and MT-120, which combine both a sequencer
and sound module.
The Local On or Off is selected by receiving the
MIDI Local Control messages. When the piano is
set up with the MT-120, Local Off messages are
transmitted when the MT-120 is switched on. By
