4. The valve tappet clearance is measured between the valve stem an d tappet
adjusti ng screw . Both the inlet and the exha ust va lves should be adjusted
to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm). To p erform the adjustment. loosen the lock nut
' 1, an d turn the adju sting screw

Turning the adjusting screw in the
clockwise direction w il l redu ce th e clearance.
