Nespresso is an exclusive system creating the ultimate Espresso, time after time. All Nespresso machines are equipped with a unique extraction system that guarantees up to 19 bar pressure. Each parameter ahs been calculated with great precision to ensure that all the aromas from each capsule can be extracted, to give the coffee body and create an exceptionally thick and smooth crema.

PACKAGING CONTENT

FIRST USE OR AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF NON-USE

first read the important safeguards to avoid risks of fatal electrical shock and.

  1. When unpacking the machine, remove the plastic film and dispose from machine panels, and both left grid and right grid.
  2. Remove the capsule container, drip tray and water tank. Adjust the cable length and store the excess in the cable guide under the machine.
  3. Place machine in upright position and plug machine into power outlet.
  4. The water tank can be carried by its cover.
  5. Rinse the water tank before filling with potable water up to maximum level.
  6. Switch the machine on. For the first 2 seconds, the automatic power off and water hardness setting are indicated with steady light.

How to read automatic power off and water hardness settings:
Automatic power off, refer to "AUTO POWER OFF" section.

  • Espresso for 8 hours
  • Cappuccino for 30 minutes
  • Latte Macchiato for 9 minutes

Water Hardness Settings, refer to "WATER HARDNESS SETTING" section.

After the first 2 seconds, the machine heats up for 25 seconds (blinking lights). Steady lights indicates that the machine is ready.

  1. Rinsing: place a container under coffee outlet and press the Lungo button. Repeat three times.


    Machines are fully tested after being produced. Some traces of coffee powder could be found in rinsing water.
  2. Disassemble the Rapid Cappuccino System (R.C.S.) and clean all 6 components in the upper level of your dishwasher. In case a dishwater is not available, refer to the «Hand Washing of Rapid Cappuccino System (R.C.S.)» section. After reassemble and re-attach the R.C.S. to the machine, use the "Clean" button before preparing milk beverage.

COFFEE PREPARATION

information NOTE: during heat up, you can press any of the coffee buttons. The coffee will automatically flow when the machine is ready.

  1. Lift the lever completely and insert the capsule.
  2. Close the lever and place a cup under the coffee outlet.
  3. Press the Espresso (40 ml/1.35 oz) or the Lungo (110 ml/3.7 oz) button. Preparation will stop automatically. To stop the coffee flow or top up your coffee, press again.
  4. Take the cup. Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container.

ASSEMBLING/DISASSEMBLING OF RAPID CAPPUCCINO SYSTEM (RCS)

  1. Remove the milk container lid and unplug milk aspiration tube.
  2. Remove the milk froth regulator knob by turning it until and pulling it up.
  3. Remove Rapid Cappuccino System Connector by unlocking it from to and pulling it off.
  4. Remove the milk spout by pulling it out.

PREPARING CAPPUCCINO - LATTE MACCHIATO - CREAMY LATTE - WARM MILK FROTH


for a perfect milk froth, use skimmed or semi-skimmed milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4°C/39°F).

  1. Fill the milk container with desired quantity of milk.


when the milk container is empty, before refilling, thoroughly rinse it and the milk aspiration tube with potable water.

  1. Close the milk container.
  2. Open the steam connector door by sliding it to the right.
  3. Connect the Rapid Cappuccino System to the machine.
  4. Machine heats up for approximately 15 seconds (blinking lights).
  5. Lift the lever completely and insert the capsule.


only for Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato and Creamy Latte. Skip this step when preparing a warm milk froth only.

  1. Close the lever, place a Cappuccino cup or a Latte Macchiato glass under the coffee outlet and adjust milk spout position by lifting it up to the right level.


recommended settings: Cappuccino minimum/Macchiato maximum/Creamy Latte minimum.

  1. Adjust the milk froth regulator knob according to the desired volume of froth.

    information NOTE: do not overturn the milk froth regulator. Overturned position is for inserting/ removing the milk froth regulator for cleaning.
  2. Press the Cappuccino, Macchiato, Creamy Latte or Warm milk froth button.


for Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato and Creamy Latte, the preparation starts after a few seconds and will stop automatically. For Warm Milk Froth, only the milk froth will be prepared.

  1. At the end of the preparation, the CLEAN shines orange.


rinse the milk system after each use.

  1. Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container. Place a container under milk spout.
  2. Press and hold the «CLEAN» button until machine stops pumping automatically. Rinsing process lasts approximately 16 seconds. «CLEAN» blinks. Milk system rinsing process will start. Hot water combined with steam will flow through the milk spout.
  3. When the rinsing process is finished, the «CLEAN» alert is resumed.
  4. Disconnect the R.C.S. from machine and place it immediately in the refrigerator. Close the machine steam connector door.
  5. After each use, disassemble the Rapid Cappuccino System, and clean all components in the upper side of your dishwasher. In case a dishwasher is not available, refer to «Hand washing of Rapid Cappuccino System (R.C.S.)» section.

milk should not be kept for more than 2 days in the refrigerator. In case the milk container is kept outside refrigerator for longer than 2 hours, disassemble the R.C.S. and clean all components (refer to dishwashing or hand washing recommendations).

PROGRAMMING COFFEE QUANTITY


follow steps 1 and 2 of «Coffee Preparation» section.

  1. Touch and hold the Espresso or Lungo button for at least 3 seconds to enter the programming mode. Brewing will start. Button blinks fast: programming mode.
  2. Release button when desired volume is reached.
  3. Button will blink 3 times to confirm the new volume. The volume is now stored for the next coffee preparation.

PROGRAMMING QUANTITY FOR CAPPUCCINO - LATTE MACCHIATO - CREAMY LATTE - WARM MILK FROTH

informationINFORMATION: follow steps 1 through 8 of «Preparing Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato or Creamy Latte» section.

  1. Touch and hold Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Creamy Latte or Warm Milk Froth Button for at least 3 seconds. Milk frothing will start. Button blinks fast: programming mode.

    information NOTE: please refer to «Factory Settings» section for minimum and maximum programmable quantities.
    information NOTE: for Creamy Latte, coffee comes first and milk froth comes second.
  2. Release button when desired milk froth volume is reached. Button still blinks fast: programming mode. (Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato/Creamy Latte) When programming the Warm Milk Froth beverage, the programming ends here.
  3. Touch and hold the same button. Brewing will start. Release button when desired coffee volume is reached. Recipe volume is now stored for the next preparations. Button blinks 3 times to confirm the new recipe volume.

    information NOTE: the milk froth volume depends on the kind of milk that is used, its temperature and the position of the milk regulator knob.

DAILY CARE


do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the machine. Do not put any machine components in dishwasher, except the Rapid Cappuccino System components.

  1. Remove drip tray and capsule container. Empty and rinse. Remove the water tank. Empty and rinse it before filling with fresh potable water.
  2. Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container. Place a container under coffee outlet and press the Lungo button to rinse.
  3. Clean the machine surface using a clean damp cloth.

HAND WASHING OF RAPID CAPPUCCINO SYSTEM (RCS)


when a dishwasher is not available, the R.C.S. components can be washed by hand. In that case, the procedure must be performed daily for a maximum efficiency.

  1. Disassemble the Rapid Cappuccino System. Refer to «Assembling/Disassembling of Rapid Cappuccino section system (R.C.S.)», rinse all parts with warm/hot water.
  2. Soak all components in warm/hot water together with detergent for at least 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm/hot water. Do not use strong odor detergents.
  3. Clean the interior of the Milk tank with detergent and rinse with warm/ hot water. Do not use abrasive material that might damage the surface of the equipment.
  4. Dry all parts with a fresh and clean towel, cloth or paper and reassemble.
  5. After reassemble and re-attach the RCS to the machine, use the "Clean" button before preparing milk beverage.

RESTORING QUANTITY TO FACTORY SETTINGS

  1. Switch the machine ON.

    information NOTE: remove the milk jug.
  2. Press the Lungo and Warm Milk Froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode; Descaling and clean alerts will start blinking.

information NOTE: the Menu mode exits automatically after 30 seconds if no actions are performed, or can be exited manually by pressing the Lungo and Warm Milk Froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

  1. Touch in a single continuous movement the following buttons: Warm Milk Froth->Creamy Latte->Lungo-> Espresso ->Cappuccino->Latte Macchiato.
  2. The Warm Milk Froth button blinks to indicate reset mode. Press it to confirm. All buttons will blink 3 times: all cup volumes are reset.
  3. The machine will exit out of menu mode automatically and will return to ready mode.


if the coffee volumes are programmed higher than 150 ml/5.07 oz, then let the machine cool down for 5 minutes before making the next coffee. Risk of overheating!

information NOTE: we recommend to keep the factory settings for Espresso and Lungo to ensure the best in cup results for each of our coffee varieties.

Milk volume can be programmed from 30 ml to 200 ml (1.01 oz to 6.76 oz).
Coffee volume can be programmed from 25 ml to 200 ml(0.84 oz to 6.76 oz).

DESCALING


refer to «Important Safeguards».

descaling time is approximately 25 minutes.

information NOTE: to ensure the proper function of your machine over its lifetime, and that your coffee experience is as perfect as the first day, follow the process below.

  1. Descale the machine when descaling alert shines orange in ready mode.
  2. Lift and close the lever to eject any capsules in the used capsule container.
  3. Empty the drip tray and the used capsules container. Fill the water tank with 100 ml/3.38oz of Nespresso descaling agent and 500ml/16.9 oz of water.
  4. Open the descaling pipe storage door. Plug the descaling pipe into the steam connector of machine.
  5. The machine will enter the descaling mode. The descaling alert will blink orange during the entire descaling process. The Warm Milk Froth button will shine white.
  6. Place a container with a minimum 1 Liter/33.8 oz capacity under both the coffee outlet and under the descaling pipe nozzle.
  7. Press the Warm Milk Froth button. Descaling solution will flow alternately through the coffee outlet, descaling pipe and drip tray.
  8. When the descaling cycle is finished (water tank runs empty), the Warm Milk Froth button will shine.
  9. Empty the used capsule container and drip tray. Rinse out and fill the water tank with fresh potable water up to level MAX.
  10. Press the Warm Milk Froth button again. The rinsing cycle continues through the coffee outlet, descaling pipe and drip tray until the water tank turns empty.
  11. Once the rinsing process is finished, the machine switches off. Remove and store descaling pipe. Empty drip tray and used capsules container. Fill water tank with fresh potable water.
  12. Clean the machine using a damp cloth. You have now finished descaling the machine.

WATER HARDNESS SETTING

  1. Place the water hardness sticker under water for 1 second.
  2. The number of red squares indicates the water hardness level.
  3. Switch the machine ON.

  4. Press the Lungo and Warm Milk Froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: Descaling and clean alerts will start blinking.

  1. Touch in a single continuous movement the following buttons: Lungo->Creamy Latte->Warm Milk Froth. The current water hardness setting is indicated by the corresponding buttons (steady light).
  2. Within 15 seconds, you can set the desired value by pressing the corresponding button. They will blink 3 times rapidly to confirm new settings.
  3. The machine will exit out of menu mode automatically and will return to ready mode.

EMPTYING THE SYSTEM BEFORE A PERIOD OF NON-USE, FOR FROST PROTECTION OR BEFORE A REPAIR

  1. Switch ON machine.

    information NOTE: remove milk jug.
  2. Remove the water tank. Lift and close the lever to eject any remaining capsule. Place a container under the coffee outlet.
  3. Press the Lungo and Warm Milk Froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: the Descaling and clean alerts will start blinking.

    information NOTE: the Menu mode will exit automatically after 30 seconds if no actions are performed, or can be exited manually by pressing the Lungo and Warm milk froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  4. Touch in a single continuous movement the following buttons: Creamy Latte ->Cappuccino.
  5. The Warm Milk Froth button will blink for confirmation. Once pressed, the emptying mode will start. The coffee buttons will blink alternately: emptying mode in progress.
  6. When the process is finished, the machine switches off automatically.

    information NOTE: appliance will be blocked for approximately 10 minutes after emptying.

AUTOMATIC POWER OFF


this machine is equipped with an excellent energy consumption profile as well as an automatic power off function (0W) which enables you to save energy. The appliance switches off after 9 minutes after last use. («Factory settings»).

  1. Switch machine ON.

    information NOTE: remove milk jug.
  2. Press the Lungo and Warm Milk Froth buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: the Descaling and clean alerts will start blinking.

TROUBLESHOOTING

No light indicator.
  • Check the outlets, plug, voltage, and fuse. In case of any problems, call the Nespresso Club.
No coffee, no water.
  • Water tank is empty. Fill water tank.
  • Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
Coffee comes out very slowly.
  • Flow speed depends on the coffee variety.
  • Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
No coffee, just water runs out (despite inserted capsule).
  • In case of problems, send appliance to repair or call the Nespresso Club.
Coffee is not hot enough.
  • Preheat cup.
  • Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
Capsule area is leaking (water in capsule container).

Irregular blinking.

Read all instructions

  1. Do not touch surfaces that become hot during and after operation and descaling: telescopic hot water spout and milk spout. Use handles or knobs.
  2. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into wall. To disconnect, turn any control to «off», then remove plug from wall outlet. Do not unplug by pulling the cord.
  3. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces or sharp edges. Do not allow cord to dangle (risk of accident).
  4. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord, or plug in after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Unplug cord immediately. Contact the Assistance Service of the Nespresso Club.
  5. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, radiators or range top. Always place on a stable and even surface. The surface must be resistant to heat and fluids, like water, coffee, descaler, or similar.
  6. Do not use outdoors.
  7. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance. Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the machine.

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and surfaces. We recommend the Nespresso descaling kit available from the Nespresso Club as it is specifically adapted to your machine. Do not use other products (such as vinegar) that would affect the taste of the coffee. For any additional questions you may have regarding descaling, please contact your Nespresso Club.
  20. This machine works with Nespresso capsules available exclusively through the Nespresso Club.
  21. This appliance is designed for Nespresso coffee capsules available exclusively through the Nespresso Club or your Nespresso authorized representative.

Short cord Instructions
shock hazard This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way.
