The EBS ValveDrive tube preamp/overdrive pedal offers the possibility for classic and traditional warm tube sounds up to hard and pure tube distortion.
The ValveDrive pedal can make your bass either glow or growl, whether you want your instrument to sing or scream.
We hope you'll enjoy using the EBS ValveDrive pedal!
The EBS Team
GAIN - Controls the overall gain and amount of overdrive.
BASS, MIDDLE AND TREBLE - The filter section of the EBS ValveDrive. Controls the timbre of the sound and is very useful for refining overdriven sounds. These filters are of classic passive style. Please refer to the filters section for more info.
VOLUME- Controls the overall volume of the EBS ValveDrive.
ACTIVE FOOTSWITCH - When the footswitch is pressed and the LED is red, the pedal is active. When deactivated the pedal is bypassed or in mute mode (depending on the setting of the bypass/mute switch on the rear panel).
VINTAGE FOOTSWITCH - Controls the character of the Valvedrive. When the LED is RED, the pedal is set to standard MODERN character. When the LED is YELLOW, the VINTAGE mode is selected. The vintage character changes the tube timbre, eq and compresses the signal over the gain stage.
INPUT JACK - Connect your instrument here.
PAD SWITCH (0dB/-10dB) - Selects operation for active or passive instruments. Press this switch if you are using an active instrument or using another pedal before the EBS ValveDrive.
DC POWER JACK - Connect the DC power supply to this jack. Use only a stabilized power supply if not original EBS adapter AD9+.
1/4" OUTPUT - Connect this output to an amplifier or another pedal.
BALANCED OUTPUT (XLR) - Use this output to connect to e.g. a mixing console or sound card.
GND LIFT SWITCH - Disconnects the ground from the balanced output.

The EBS ValveDrive is equipped with classical style passive filters especially tuned for bass guitar. The following graphs show the frequency response of the BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE controls.
Note: In each graph the other two controls are set to maximum position.
The special case when you want a flat frequency response from the passive filters is obtained when BASS and TREBLE controls are set to MINIMUM, and the MIDDLE control is set to MAXIMUM.
