Operation

6.1.

ADJUSTING THE OUTSIDE MICROMETER

Carry out adjustment before each analogue measurement
1. Remove dirt from anvil (2) and measuring spindle (3).
2. Turn the friction ratchet (9) clockwise until the anvil (2) and the measuring spindle (3) touch and the ratchet is released.
3. If the scale shows "0.00 mm", the outside micrometer is correctly adjusted.
4. If the scale does not show "0.00 mm", insert the wide end of the adjustment tool (15) into the adjustment hole (12).
5. Turn the scale sleeve (7) with the adjustment tool (15) until the scale shows "0.00 mm".
▶ The outside micrometer is adjusted.

PERFORM MEASUREMENT

The measuring force of the measuring spindle is 5 - 10 N when the ratchet is released.
1. Only hold the outside micrometer against the insulating plate (14) to prevent the outside micrometer from heating up
and expanding.
2. Insert workpiece between anvil (2) and measuring spindle (3).
3. Place the measuring spindle (3) on the workpiece by turning the friction ratchet (9) clockwise until the friction ratchet
(9) is released.
4. Read off the measurement result. If the measuring point is inaccessible, fix the measuring spindle (3) with the clamping
lever (4).

READING THE MEASUREMENT RESULT WITH ANALOGUE APPLICATION

1. Read off the full millimetre value closest to the reading edge (11) on the scale (8). (Shown: 5 mm).
2. If there is a scale line on the scale (10) between the full millimetre value and the reading edge (11), add 0.5 mm to the
full millimetre value (shown: 5 mm + 0.5 mm = 5.5 mm).
3. Read the value opposite the reference line (9) on the 0.01 mm scale (7). Add this value to the result from step 2 to get
the measurement result. (Shown: Measurement result = 5.5 mm + 35/100 mm = 5.85 mm).

Switch on and off

After 10 minutes of inactivity, the outside micrometer switches off.
1. To switch on Button „ON/OFF – SET" Press briefly or move the measuring spindle.
2. To switch off Button „ON/OFF – SET" press shortly.
6.4.2.

Set measuring mode and measuring unit

1. To change the measuring mode between "Absolute (ABS)" and "Incremental (INC)", Button „ABS/INC - UNIT" press
shortly.
2. To change the measuring unit between "mm" and "inch", Button „ABS/INC - UNIT" press long.
