Installation After unpacking your FortiBalancer unit and ensuring all contents are present, you can install the unit as follows: 1 If desired, mount the unit to your equipment rack using the included rack mount ears. 2 If using the device in High Availability mode, connect the supplied USB cable to either of the USB ports.
Initial Configuration There are three ways you can initially configure your FortiBalancer unit: via the Console port (recommended), via Secure Shell (SSH) or via an Internet browser. If you choose to use SSH or an Internet browser to configure your device, you must ensure the connecting PC has an IP address of 192.168.1.X and a netmask of 255.255.255.0.
Initial Configuration via Console Once you have established a console connection to the FortiBalancer, you will reach the login prompt. After logging in to the unit, you may enter enable mode by typing enable. The unit will prompt you for a password. The first time you enter this mode, there is no password.
