To turn off the "You have # messages" indicator on the VTech CS6029CA handset when there are no messages on the telephone base, follow these steps:

1. Press the handset button when the phone is not in use.
2. Scroll using the ▼/▲ buttons to select "Answering sys" and press to confirm.
3. Scroll using the ▼/▲ buttons to select "Delete all old" and press to confirm.

This process turns off the message indicator but does not delete voicemail messages stored by your service provider.

I have model CS6029-3 and can't seem to get my answering machine to work since I have changed to connection into modem instead of the house wall connection
