INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Follow the Instructions for use

  • Please read the instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference.
  • Before using the first time and after every measurement, clean and sanitize the probe (please refer to the 'cleaning and disinfection' section).
  • The thermometer is not waterproof.
  • Keep in a safe place and out of the reach of children and persons with cognitive limitation. Never leave children or persons with cognitive limitations alone while measuring temperature. The thermometer tip can be dangerous if placed near the eyes. The thermometer contains small parts which can cause suffocation or internal lesions if swallowed.
  • The thermometer is intended for the direct measurement of body temperature: it is intended for rectal and axillary use only.
  • The device is intended for clinical or home use on people of all ages.
  • In the case of knocking, falls or doubts about the operation of the product, contact the distributor. Do not attempt measurements when the thermometer is wet as this may result in inaccurate readings.
  • Do not try to repair the thermometer.
  • In case of doubts or if the temperature rises, contact your physician. Self-diagnosis may lead to the worsening of existing disease conditions.
  • After use, store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from dust, according to the environmental limitation specified in the instruction for use. If the unit has been stored at temperatures outside the range 5°C ~ 35°C (41°F ~ 95°F), leave it in 5°C ~ 35°C (41°F ~ 95°F) ambient temperature for about 15 minutes before using it.
  • Remove battery from the device when not in operation for a long time.
  • Do not place thermometer battery near extreme heat as it may explode.
  • It is essential to position the thermometer correctly to accurately measure ones temperature. Refrain from drinking hot or cold beverages, performing physical exercise, taking a bath or shower or smoking in the 15 minutes before taking a measurement.
  • To ensure that ones temperature is measured correctly, follow the instructions below.

MEASURING SITE SWITCHABLE

The measuring site can be switched between axillary mode and rectal mode.
With the thermometer off, press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 2 seconds and the measuring site will be displayed. Then release the On/Off button and press the measurement type set button in 2 seconds, the measure site will change between axillary mode and rectal mode and the selected site will flash. Alternatively, you can switch the measuring site by pressing the measurement type button for 2 seconds. Please note you must place the thermometer at the selected measurement site location within 3 seconds to prevent deactivation of the selected mode.

SELECTING °C/°F SCALE

With the thermometer off, press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 4 seconds to enter into the unit switch mode, then release the On/Off button, current setting by pressing the measurement type button for 2 seconds.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE

Press the On/Off button next to the LCD display. You will hear a tone sound and then the main screen will show, followed by the last recorded temperature. After showing the memory temperature, the thermometer is now in the measurement mode (°C/°F blinking).
Position the thermometer in desired location (rectum or armpit).

  1. Rectal Use (10 sec): Gently insert sensor approximately 1cm into rectum. At the end of the measurement the thermometer makes 4 long beeps, if the temperature is below 38°C and 12 short beeps if the temperature is 38°C or higher.
  2. Armpit Use (1 minute): Wipe armpit dry. Place probe under the armpit and keep arm pressed firmly at side. At the end of the measurement the thermometer makes 4 long beeps if the temperature is below 37.5°C and 12 short beeps if the temperature is 37.5°C or higher.

    The degree sign flashes throughout the measuring process. When flashing stops, an alarm will beep for approximately 4 seconds. The measurement will be displayed on the LCD with selected measurement site.

To prolong the battery life, press the on/off button for a few seconds the On/Off Button to turn the unit off after testing is complete. If no action is taken, the unit will automatically turn off after about 3 minutes.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Lo °C (Lo °F) if the thermometer measures below 34.0°C (93.2°F)
  • Hi °C (Hi °F) if the thermometer measures above 42.9°C (109.9°F)
    If this is the case, we advise that you switch the thermometer off and then on again. Make sure it has completed the activation cycle described above. Now place it once again in the measurement site to take a new measurement.
  • "Err" if the thermometer is not working correctly. Contact customer services or the local distributor.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

  1. Replace the battery when "" appears in the LCD display.
  2. Place a coin on the top of the cover. Turn the battery anti-clockwise until the cover is open. (See Fig. 2A)
  3. Use a non-metal instrument, such as a pen, to remove the old battery from the battery holder (See Fig. 2B). Discard the battery in line with the instructions at the end of this manual.
  4. Place a new 3.0V DC button type CR1632, or equivalent into the chamber with positive side facing up. (See Fig. 2C).
  5. With a thin pin, turn the cover clockwise until the symbol faces towards the symbol. (See Fig. 2D)

Battery cover and batteries must be kept out of reach of children as small parts can cause suffocation or result in serious poisoning and internal lesions if swallowed.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

Use a soft cloth moistened with alcohol or a common disinfectant to clean and disinfect the thermometer and probe before and after every use. Do not use abrasive detergents, solvents or benzenes as they may damage the enclosure of the thermometer, which may consequently be contaminated by these substances. This instrument is not waterproof; immersing it in water may damage it and stop it from working.

PRECAUTION

The performance of the device may be compromised if one or more of the following occur:

  • Operation outside the manufacturer's stated temperature and humidity range.
  • Storage outside the manufacturer's stated temperature and humidity range.
  • Mechanical shock (for example dropping) or degraded sensor.
  • Patient temperature is below ambient temperature.
  • Please check the calibration of the thermometer every 2 years. Contact the customer service or the local distributor.
