INTRODUCTION
The EM-566 Series is a 5.25" single board computer combining an onboard new VIA
embedded low power VIA Eden ESP VE Low-Power processor and the highly-integrated
VIA Apollo PLE133/VT686B chipset, that provides the most flexible, compatible, and
cost-effective platform solution for building a wide range of desktop and set top boxes to
thin clients and web terminals powerful computing and multimedia performance for all the
most popular productivity and Internet applications.
To enhance network security appliance, the EM-566 Series comes with Realtek RTL8100
10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet controllers and four Ethernet LAN ports to provide an ideal
price/performance solution for high-end commercial and industrial applications where
stability and reliability are essential.
Designed with the Plug -and-Serve concept in mind, the EM-566 Series offers one 144 pin
SODIMM which provide full functionality and performance to be used "exactly" where you
need it as well. In addition, one ATA mode CompactFlash type II socket used in installing
OS avoiding service disruption caused by hard disk's mechanical/magnetic failures.
EM-566 Series has many expansion functions such as one PCI and one 124-pin Mini- PCI
slot , One 40-pin IDE connector that supports up to two IDE devices and Ultra
ATA/100/66/33 interface help designers and integrators improve system performance by
retrieving and sending data faster. For easy access, EM-566 Series has a 9-pin, RS-232
serial port for local system management, maintenance, and diagnostics. Everything you
could need is on-board.
