Overview of the device

Thank you for purchasing a Taylor® non-contact infrared thermometer. Please read this instruction manual carefully before use. Keep these instructions handy for future reference.

Please remember to keep the unit away from children and do not use it for safety related applications.

Instructions

  1. Simply aim the thermometer at the target with the Infrared Lens and press the Measurement button to display the surface temperature.
  2. The Distance: Spot is 6:1. Please make sure the target area is within the field of view.

FEATURES

oF or oC switchable Press the "0C/0F" key to switch between oF and oC temperature scales.
Backlight LCD Backlight: always on while the unit is on.
Laser To enable the laser, press the " " button while the unit is on. The " " icon appears on the LCD, indicating the laser is active. The laser sight will then operate when the Measurement button is pressed. To disable the laser, press the " " button while the unit is on.
Auto Off The unit will automatically turn off after 15 seconds of non-use to conserve battery power.
Scan/Hold When the Measurement button is pressed, the unit will scan for surface temperatures and update the reading on the LCD screen. When the Measurement button is released, the screen will hold the last reading. The maximum temperature reading appears in the bottom of the screen. (The maximum temperature reading will reset after each use.)

Readings may be affected if the unit is operated within a radio frequency electromagnetic field strength of approximately 3 volts per meter, but the performance of the instrument will not be permanently affected.

  1. WHEN THE DEVICE IS IN USE, DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE LASER BEAM, OR POINT THE LASER TOWARDS ANYONE ELSE'S EYES, AS PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
  2. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN OPERATING THE LASER.
  3. NEVER POINT THE DEVICE TOWARDS ANYONE'S EYES.
  4. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF ALL CHILDREN.

STORAGE & CLEANING

The sensor lens is the most delicate part of the thermometer. The lens should be kept clean at all times. Take care when cleaning the lens, using only a soft cloth or cotton swab with water or medical alcohol, and allow the lens to fully dry before using the unit. Do not submerge any part of the thermometer. The thermometer should be stored at room temperature between -4~140°F (–20 to +60°C).

LOW BATTERY INDICATIOR

When the 'Low Battery' icon indicates the battery is low, the batteries should be replaced immediately with 2 AAA batteries. Please note: It is important to turn the instrument off before replacing the batteries, otherwise the thermometer may malfunction. Dispose of used batteries properly and keep away from children. Always replace both batteries at the same time; do not combine old and new batteries. Do not mix Alkaline, carbon-zinc (standard) or Nickel-Cadmium (rechargeable) batteries. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a long period of time.

Care and Precautions

  1. Always read instructions thoroughly to ensure that you have the full benefit of all the unit's features.
  2. Use extreme caution when operating the laser. DO NOT look directly into the laser or point the laser toward anyone's eyes. Permanent eye damage may result. Use extreme caution while operating the laser. Keep out of reach of all children.
  3. DO NOT immerse unit in water, as doing so will cause damage to internal components and void the warranty. If you spill liquid on it, dry it immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. The unit is not dishwasher safe. Damage will void warranty.
  4. DO NOT clean the unit with an abrasive or corrosive material. This may scratch the plastic parts and corrode the electronic circuits.
  5. DO NOT subject the units to excessive force, shock, dust, temperature or humidity. This may result in malfunction, shorter electronic life span, damaged battery and distorted parts.
  6. DO NOT operate or store the unit in high temperature or humidity conditions. The heat or moisture may interfere with the unit's internal components. Store the unit at temperatures between -4~149°F (–20 to +65°C).
  7. DO NOT tamper with the unit's internal components. Doing so will invalidate the warranty on the unit and may cause damage. The unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
  8. This unit operates on 2 AAA batteries. Do not dispose of this product or batteries in fire, as batteries inside this product may explode or leak.
  9. Due to continuous product improvements, illustrations may differ from the actual product.
