Updating the Flash EEPROM on my AutoPrinter

Notice
The type of AutoPrinter and the cable connection determine the procedure to update the Flash
EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Program Read Only Memory). Everest AutoPrinters have a
circuit board inside the transporter that is updated while the Prism AutoPrinter is updated in
the printer.
An AutoPrinter with a Series 4 Prism Printer can be programmed through the serial or
parallel port. An AutoPrinter with a Series 5 Prism Printer can be programmed through the
USB, serial, or parallel port. The pictures below show how to identify the printer. The
Daughter Board is not required for a Series 5 printer, it is only used for a 3-Bin AutoPrinter.

The only way to update the flash on an Everest AutoPrinter is to use the GemFlash utility.
There are two programs available to update the Prism AutoPrinter; Gemflash and Parflash.
Gemflash uses the serial port. Parflash uses the parallel port.

Getting Latest Flash EEPROM

The latest flash can be downloaded from the website. Each file that is downloaded from the
website is compressed and must be uncompressed from an .exe to a .bin file. All Series 4
Printers use a flash file name <BMAPS.BIN>. Series 5 Printers use the flash file name
<485535-ver.BIN>, where the ver is the version of the flash file. The Everest AutoPrinter
with a 3 Bin carousel, uses the flash file <485532-ver.BIN>. The Everest AutoPrinter with a 4
Bin carousel, uses the flash file <485542-ver.BIN>.
Caution!
Do not flash a series 4 printer with a series 5 flash! If you flash a series 4 printer with the
series 5 flash, you must re-flash the printer to correct the problem. If parflash was used,
recycle the printer power and flash it with the proper flash file.

Updating the Everest Autoprinter Using GemFlash

The GemFlash uses the serial cable that is connected from the COM port of the PC to the
AutoPrinter's 9-pin connection.
1. Copy the Gemflash.exe program to the root of the C: drive.
2. Copy the latest flash file to the root of the C: drive.
3. Select the Run command from the Windows Start button.
4. Type 'Gemflash <flashfile> COMx', where the 'x' is the COM port number. The
<flashfile> is the name of the file containing the binary file. Here are two examples:
