Step 4. Installation and Connection
Now that you have selected the location and have run all of the required
cabling, it is time to install the RAYCOM itself. But first let's make sure all of
the connections are good.
1) Screw in the antenna connector to the TNC jack on the RAYCOM, plug in
the power connector, and plug in the RJ-11 (phone) plug into the RJ-11 jack
on the bottom of the unit.
2) The LED indicator on the top of the unit should illuminate red at first. If
you are within range of a cellular tower, the LED should turn green within a
minute or two which indicates sufficient signal strength.
3) Once the indicator goes green, pick up the connected POTS telephone and
listen for a dial tone.
If these conditions are met, your antenna installation and connec-
tions were done correctly. If any of these conditions were not met,
refer to the Troubleshooting Section at the end of this manual.
To install the unit, perform the following:
4) Hold the mounting bracket against the surface where the RAY-
COM will be mounted and mark two holes
for the mounting screws.
5) Remove the bracket and drill the two
holes.
6) Install the two supplied pan-head mount-
ing screws (provided in the Lateral Support
Bracket kit) into the holes leaving about
1/16" (1.5mm) gap between the under-side
of the screw head and the bulkhead or deck.
7) Attach the slotted mounting bracket to the
back of the RAYCOM using the short machine
screws provided. We recommend you use
Loctite or a similar adhesive on the threads.
Insure the bracket is properly oriented for
