2.5 System Safety Check

Now that the system has been set up by the installer and is ready for use, once it is turned ON, it is important to
conduct the following checks before using the system:
1. Ensure that your equipment is properly grounded and there is power to the units.
Note: The ADE ground cable and the BDE ground cable (supplied with the kit) must be installed to an
appropriate ground connection in order to ensure proper operation of the system.
NOTICE:
Install ground cables for both the ADE and BDE before using Pilot. Instructions on how to install the
ground cables are provided in the Installation Guide. Failure to properly ground the ADE and the BDE could
result in property damage in the case of a lightning strike or other excessive static build-up.
2. Make sure the valid Iridium Pilot SIM card is installed in the SIM holder and the SIM card slide locking tab is
in the correct position. RJ-45 port is connected to a computer, switch, router or server, and RJ-11 ports are
connected to handsets. (Figure 2.5)
