    • Some cable systems and copy protection systems may interfere with the closed captioned signal. • If using an indoor antenna or if TV reception is very poor, the closed caption decoder may not appear or may appear with strange characters or misspelled words. In this case, adjust the antenna for better reception or use an outdoor antenna.

    Memorizing channels This TV/VCR/DVD is equipped with a channel memory feature which allows channels to skip up or down to the next channel set into memory, skipping over unwanted channels. Before selecting channels, they must be programmed into the unit’s memory. In addition to normal VHF and UHF channels, this TV/VCR/DVD can receive up to 113 Cable TV channels.

    Duplicating a video tape If you connect the TV/VCR/DVD to another VCR or camcorder, you can duplicate a previously recorded tape. Make all connections before turning on the power. Load a blank cassette tape with the erase preven- tion tab intact into the recording unit.

    Disc This TV/VCR/DVD applies to DVD discs from Region 1 only. The loaded Disc (DVD, Audio-CD and mp3/WMA/JPEG-CD) will be recognized automatically. The suitable Disc-formats are: DVD, CD-R and CD-RW. Some CD-R/RW discs may be incompatible. WARNING Do not attempt to play DVD-ROM, DVD-Audio, CDV, Video-CD or CD-G to prevent accidental erasure of prere- corded material.

    A wide screen picture is displayed full size, although the image on the screen may be geometrically distorted in this mode because the TV screen has an aspect ratio of 4:3 not 16:9. However it is possible to connect this set to an exter- nal widescreen (16:9) TV set via the SCART socket (see P.8).

    Use the following check list for troubleshooting when you have problems with your TV/VCR/DVD. Consult your local dealer or service outlet if problems persist. Be sure all connections are properly made when using with other units. SYMPTOMS POWER The AC power cord is not connected.

    Video head clogging The video heads are the means by which the TV/VCR/DVD reads the picture from the tape during playback. In the unlikely event that the heads become dirty enough to be clogged, no picture will be played back. This can easily be determined if, during playback of a known good tape, there is good sound, but no picture (picture is extremely snowy).
