The Front of Your TV/DVD The TV/DVD has front input jacks for your convenience: one set of audio/video inputs and a headphone jack. These jacks are towards the front of the TV/DVD on the side.

    Indicator Button Descriptions Arrows Used to highlight different items in the TV menu and to adjust the menu ON OFF controls. Indicator Indicates the programming mode when programming the remote to control components. Lights when you press a valid button on the remote. Flickers when a button is pressed and the batteries are low.

    Programming the Remote There are two ways to program the remote control: • automatic code search • direct entry Using Automatic Code Search The following instructions can be used to program the remote to operate each of your components. If you want to stop the automatic code search without programming any of your components, press CLEAR until the indicator on the remote turns off.

    Chapter 3: Playing Discs Regional Coding Both the TV/DVD unit and the discs are coded by region. These regional codes must match in order for the disc to play. If the codes don’t match, the disc won’t play. This unit’s code is region 1. Using Different Menus Each disc is programmed with different features.

    Playing Discs Using a Disc Menu A disc is capable of having an on-screen menu that is separate from the DVD’s menu system and on-screen Info Display. The disc menu might only contain a list of the titles and chapters, or it may allow you to change features such as language and playback settings.

    Playing Discs Using the On-Screen Info Display The on-screen Info Display contains many playback features. To see the Info Display, press the INFO button on the remote while a disc is playing. The Info Display appears across the top of the screen. Each feature is illustrated with an icon.

    Selecting a Chapter Because DVD discs use digital technology, a title can be divided into individual chapters (similar to tracks on a CD).     Playing Discs Using the Time Display The Time part of the Info Display shows the current disc time. To change the current disc time: 1. Press INFO on the remote (the Info Display appears). 2.     Using the Program Play Feature To use the Program Play feature, you must enter the order in which you want the tracks on the CD or mp3 to play by creating a program. This is done from the DVD’s main menu. Use the Edit Program screen to create your own playlist.

When you set up auto tuning in the menu system you don’t have to remember to change your TV to channel 3, for example, when you want to watch the tape in your VCR.

    Using the TV’s Features KidPass The KidPass feature allows parents to set a certain amount of time every day of the week that a child can watch TV. To set KidPass: 1. Select Parental Control from the main menu. 2. Select KidPass (the KIDPASS menu appears with Current Day highlighted). Note: If you can’t select KidPass, you need to set the time.

    Setting the Ratings Limits The Ratings Limits feature is a rating limit system, sort of like movie ratings. It works with DVD discs that have been assigned a rating. This helps you control the types of DVDs that your family watches. Note: When in DVD mode, the TV/DVD alerts you when you try to play a movie with a rating that exceeds the limit you’ve set.
