10.0 Securing Car Seat in Your Vehicle

10.2.2 Secure Base with LATCH Lower Connectors

1. Remove any toys or other objects attached to the carry handle before
installing car seat in vehicle.
2. Snap car seat into base and place car seat and
base in the rear-facing position onto the vehicle
seat in the vehicle seating location selected.
Check for the correct seat recline and adjust
recline as necessary. (See Section 11.4 Adjust
Seat Recline Angle)
3. Remove the Car Seat from the base by squeezing
the base release handle located under the center
of the foot end of the Car Seat and lifting upward
on the Car Seat. (See Section 10.5 Removing
Car Seat from Base)
4. Remove the LATCH connectors from their
storage positions on the Side of the base.
Push red release button to release extra
webbing for adjustment.
5. Place the Base on the vehicle seat in a rear-facing
position with the foot end of the base contacting
the vehicle seat back.

6. Make sure LATCH belts extend from base as
shown (Fig 38-1).
7. Locate the LATCH anchors in the vehicle Seat
and snap the Car Seat LATCH connectors
onto the steel rod (Fig 38-2). Listen for the
click and check that both connectors are firmly
attached to the anchor rods by pulling outward
on the connectors.
8. Proper installation of the Base requires that
the LATCH belt be very tight and stay tight.
To tighten the belt, push down on the base
while pulling upwards on each LATCH belt.
After tightening, push loose ends out through
openings in base (Fig. 38-3).
