Set up your smartphone.
Set up your smartphone.
If this is the first time the inside display has powered on, you will be
prompted to enter the set up information below (Fig. 5.1). If the inside
display has been powered on before, the smartphone will arrive at the
desktop with a screen similar to Fig. 5.3.
Set time, date, and personal information
Once the desktop is visible on the inside screen, you will be prompted to
enter the following information (Fig. 5.1).
Language – Select from the available languages.
Home City – Enter the city in which you reside.
If your home city is not listed, choose a nearby city from the list
that is in the same time zone.
Date and Time – Set the current date and time.
My Contact Card – Input your personal information.
Turn your smartphone on
You have finished entering the setup information. Turn the phone on by
pressing the (outside) power
button (Fig. 5.2).
Note!
Your wireless service provider's network may automatically update the
date, time, and time zone (this may also change the city selection).

Each button starts the
corresponding application. The "My own" key
is a customizable shortcut key.
Character key:
Use to access secondary functions of specific keys. Hold the Chr key while pressing
another key to activate the secondary function. (Secondary functions are printed in blue on the keys.)
Help key
– Press Chr
+ help
to access smartphone support.
Bluetooth key
- Press Chr
+ Bluetooth
to activate Bluetooth.
Zoom keys
– Press Chr
+ Zoom
to make
the fonts larger or smaller

Infrared key
- Press Chr
+ Infrared
to activate Infrared.
Menu key
– Press the Menu key
to open
the menu within any application.
Scroll key
- Press the scroll key
left, right, up,
or down to scroll through different lists.
Press the center of the scroll key to select the
highlighted option.
Sync key
- Press Chr
+ Sync
to
sync your Nokia 9300 smartphone with your PC.
Loudspeaker
Open the cover during a call
to activate the loudspeaker.

Transfer contacts from an existing SIM
If you are using an existing SIM card and have contacts stored on it, follow
the steps below to easily transfer your contacts to your new smartphone.
1. Turn on the inside of your smartphone.
2. After the inside has fully booted, turn on the outside of the smartphone.
3. Press the Contacts application key.
4. Highlight SIM card and press the Open command key.
5. Highlight the SIM card folder and press the Copy all command key.
6. Highlight Contacts and press the Select command key.
7. Confirm the action by pressing the Copy command key.

Insert the Getting Started CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If the CD does not automatically
launch, select Start > Run > D:\start.exe (where D: is your CD-ROM). This CD presents information

PC Synchronization – Install Nokia PC Suite for Windows XP/2000. This software program
allows you to exchange data (such as contacts, calendar and to-do lists) between your
Nokia 9300 smartphone and your compatible computer.
