2. Con la segadora a la altura deseada para la
posición de corte, se tienen que montar las
ruedas calibradoras de modo que queden
un poco sobre el suelo. Instale las ruedas
calibradoras en el agujero adecuado con el
perno con resalto, la arandela de 3/8, y la
tuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y apriételos
en forma segura.
3. Repita el procedimiento para el lado opuesto
instalando la rueda calibradora en el mismo
agujero de ajuste.
PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA
El tractor está equipado con un interruptor de
detección de presencia del operador. Cuando el
motor está en marcha, el motor se apaga ante
cualquier intento del operador de dejar el asiento
sin activar primero el freno de estacionamiento.
Debe permanecer perfectamente situado en el
centro del asiento para evitar que el motor vacile
o se apague al utilizar el equipo en un terreno
accidentado, ondulante o en colinas.

2. Haga arrancar las cuchillas de la segadora

Desenganche el control del embrague del ac-
cesorio.
PRECAUCIÓN: No opere la segadora sin,
ya sea, el recogedor de césped completo en las
segadoras así equipadas o con la pro tec ción
contra la descarga en su lugar.
SISTEMA DE OPERACIÓN EN REVERSA
(ROS)
El tractor está equipado con un sistema de funcio-
namiento en reversa (ROS). Cualquier intento del
operador de segar en reversa sin presionar prime-
ro el botón ROS (G) detiene las cuchillas de la cor-
tadora de césped. Compruebe que la transmisión
esté en neutral, desplace la palanca de control
del embrague a la posición de desconexión, y a
continuación de vuelta a la posición de conexión
antes de continuar con la operación ROS.
ADVERTENCIA: No se debe retroceder con
el embrague del accesorio accionado mientras
se siega. Permitir la operación en reversa con el
embrague del accesorio conectado solo se debe
hacer cuando el operador decida que es necesario
volver a situar la máquina con el accesorio ac-
cionado. No siegue en reversa a menos que sea
absolutamente necesario.
USO DEL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAMIENTO
EN REVERSA -
Úselo solo si está seguro de que no accederán
niños ni otras personas a la zona de corte del
césped.
1. Con el motor en funcionamiento, pise el pedal
de freno a fondo.
2. Presione el botón ROS (G) y asegúrese de
que esté encendido.
3. Siempre mire hacia abajo y hacia atrás antes
y cuando retroceda.
4. Suelte el pedal de freno y pise el pedal de
marcha atrás para iniciar el movimiento.
5. Cuando ya no sea necesario usar el ROS,
presione el botón ROS para regresar a la
operación normal. El botón ROS ya no debe
estar encendido.

• Keep battery and terminals clean.
• Keep battery bolts tight.
• Keep small vent holes open.
• Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.
NOTE: The original equipment battery on
your tractor is maintenance free. Do not
attempt to open or remove caps or covers.
Adding or checking level of elec tro lyte is
not necessary.
TO CLEAN BATTERY AND TER MI NALS
Corrosion and dirt on the battery and terminals
can cause the battery to "leak" power.
1. Remove terminal guard.
2. Disconnect BLACK battery cable first
then RED bat tery cable and remove
battery from tractor.
3. Rinse the battery with plain water and
dry.
4. Clean terminals and battery cable ends
with wire brush until bright.
5. Coat terminals with grease or pe tro leum
jelly.
6. Reinstall battery (See "REPLACING
BATTERY" in the Service and Ad just-
ments section of this manual).
TRANSAXLE MAINTENANCE
The transmission fan and cooling fins should
be kept clean to assure proper cooling. Do
not attempt to clean fan or trans mis sion while
engine is running or while the trans mis sion
is hot. To prevent pos si ble damage to seals,
do not use high pres sure water or steam to
clean transaxle.
• Inspect cooling fan to be sure fan blades
are intact and clean.

• Inspect cooling fins for dirt, grass clippings
and other materials. To prevent damage to
seals, do not use compressed air or high
pressure sprayer to clean cool ing fins.
TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID
The transaxle was sealed at the factory and
fluid main te nance is not required for the life
of the transaxle. Should the transaxle ever
leak or require servicing, contact your near-
est Sears or other qualified service center.
V-BELTS
Check V-belts for deterioration and wear after
100 hours of operation and replace if neces-
sary. The belts are not ad just able. Re place
belts if they begin to slip from wear.
ENGINE
LUBRICATION
Only use high quality detergent oil rated with
API service classification SG-SL. Select the
oil's SAE viscosity grade according to your
expected operating temperature.

NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W30,
10W30 etc.) improve starting in cold weather,
they will result in increased oil consumption
when used above 32°F/0°C. Check your
engine oil level more frequently to avoid
possible engine damage from running low
on oil.
Change the oil after every 50 hours of
operation or at least once a year if the tractor
is not used for 50 hours in one year.
Check the crankcase oil level before starting
the engine and after each eight (8) hours
of operation. Tighten oil fill cap/dipstick
securely each time you check the oil level.
TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL
Determine temperature range expected
before oil change. All oil must meet API
service classification SG-SL.
•
Ensure tractor is on level surface.
•
Oil will drain more freely when warm.
•
Catch oil in a suitable container.
LOWER DASH COVER REMOVAL
1. Raise hood.
2. Remove fastener from lower dash cover.
CAUTION: Remove lower dash cover care-
fully to ensure cover tabs are not broken.
3. Slide lower dash cover up to release
cover tabs from tapered slots in lower
dash and remove.

4. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick. Be careful
not to allow dirt to enter the engine when
changing oil.
5. Slide oil drain extension from the docking
position on the engine blower housing
and extend outward from engine.
