Before you begin

Useful advice

  • Do not use your system immediately after transporting it from a cold place to a warm place, as condensation may cause the system to malfunction. If moisture forms inside this system, it may not operate properly. To correct the problem, turn off the power and wait about 30 minutes for moisture to evaporate.
  • This system is fitted with a laser. To avoid accidents, it is to be opened by qualified technicians only.
  • Never leave the CD compartment door open as dust could cover the laser lens and/or the CD compartment door could be bumped into accidentally.
  • Do not place the system near wet areas such as bathrooms and pool side. Avoid storing the system at humid places or near abnormally heated areas.
  • Power is continuously supplied to the system. To disconnect power completely, unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
  • Ensure minimum distance around the apparatus for sufficient ventilation. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspaper, etc.
  • No naked flame source, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
  • The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

AC power
Plug the power supply cord into the AC power jack on the back of the unit, and into an AC power supply outlet that accepts the plug supplied with your unit.

Battery power
You can insert 8 D-sized alkaline batteries (not supplied) and you can take your stereo just about anywhere.

  • Open the battery compartment door on the bottom of the unit by pressing down on the tab and pulling out the cover.
  • Before inserting the batteries, observe the polarities (that is, + and -) of the battery, then relate the polarities to the engraved diagram located on the battery compartment door. Insert batteries in the battery compartment.

Note that the AC line cord must be unplugged from the jack on the back of the unit to operate on batteries.

Important battery information

  • Remove the batteries to avoid leakage if you do not use your system for more than one month.
  • Discard leaky batteries immediately as leaking batteries may cause skin burns or other personal injuries. Dispose of batteries in the proper manner, according to provincial and local regulations.
  • Any battery may leak electrolyte under the following circumstances:
    • if mixed with a different battery type,
    • if inserted incorrectly,
    • if all batteries are not replaced at the same time,
    • if disposed of in fire, or
    • if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharged
  • Be sure to remove batteries when storing the set for more than 30 days. Leaky batteries can badly damage the system. Be sure to dispose of leaky, weak or dead batteries properly according to federal, state, and local regulations. To prevent injury or damage, do not reverse batteries and do not mix battery type.

Function of controls

  1. LINE IN Jack
    To connect an audio cable for external audio input.
  2. DBBS
    To switch on or off the bass boost.
  3. Function selector
    To select among the LINE IN / CD, off, radio.
  4. Volume control
    To adjust the volume.
  5. CD skip
    To go to the previous track or search backward.
  6. Repeat
    To select among the repeat current track, repeat all tracks playback modes.
  7. Stop
    To stop the playback.
  8. CD display
    The CD display show your various playing modes, track numbers.
  9. Play / Pause
    To start and pause the playback.
  1. Prog.
    To enter the program mode and confirm the program settings. You can program a playlist of up to 20 tracks.
  2. CD skip
    To go to the next track or search forward.
  3. Tuning control
    To adjust the tuning frequency.
  4. Band selector
    To select FM, stereo or AM band.
  5. FM stereo indicator
    Lights whenever FM stereo broadcast being received.
  6. Dial pointer
    Indicate the frequency being tuned.
  7. Antena FM
    Extend the antenna for better FM reception.

LINE-IN

  1. Slide the function selector to LINE-IN/CD position.
  2. Connect the external player to the LINE-IN jack with an audio cable (not provided).
  3. Adjust the external player to mid-range volume and adjust the master volume by rotating the Volume control on the unit.
  • Do not turn the volume of the external player too high as this may affect the sound quality.
  • For other playback operations, control them on your external player.

Radio

  1. Slide the function selector to RADIO position.
  2. Slide the Band selector to select FM, FM stereo or AM band.

    Extend the FM antenna for better FM reception.
    Rotate the unit for better AM reception.
  3. Rotate the tuning control to tune down or up the radio frequency. Tuned frequency can be read via the Dial pointer. When the reception is good at FM Stereo mode, FM stereo indicator will light on.

CD player


This unit is compatible withCD-R / RW audio CD-R/RW discs.
Notes on CD-R/RW

  • Do not affix any type of labels to either side (recordable or labeled side) of a CD-R/RW disc as this may result in the unit malfunctioning.
  • Playback capability for CD-RW discs may vary due to variations in the quality of the CD-RW disc and the recorder used to create the disc.

Selecting CD mode
Slide the function selector to LINE-IN/CD position.

Loading disc

  1. Open the CD door.
  2. Place the CD on the spindle with the label side facing up and press gently to lock the disc in place.
  3. Close the CD door. The total number of tracks on the disc can be read from display.

Play and pause

  1. In stop mode, press to begin CD playback.
  2. During CD playback, press to pause playback. Press again to resume.

Skip and search

  1. Press / to skip to the previous or next track respectively.
  2. Press and hold / to search quickly current track backward or forward respectively.

Stop playback
Press to stop playback.

Play mode
Press REPEAT to select among REPEAT mode (repeat current track / repeat all). Selection made is indicated by icons on display.

Programming

  1. In stop mode, press PROG to enter program setting mode. The program location and program icon flash on the display.
  2. Press / to select the track you want to program.
  3. Press PROG again to confirm your selection and access the next program location.
  4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 to program to a maximum of 20 tracks.
  5. Press in program mode to start program playback (PROG icon lights on the display).
  • Press to return to stop mode.
    Clearing program list
    Your program will be erased:
  • open the CD door or
  • press while the program playback is stopped.

Connect an audio cable (not included) to the LINE-IN jack will switch the unit to LINE-IN mode automatically
