5.4 Getting the best from your EPIRB
Your EPIRB is designed and optimised to be used floating in the sea.
However, if you have to use it in other situations, this section provides
guidance on how to get the best from your EPIRB.
Aboard ship:
DO:

Place the EPIRB in the
open, clear of overhangs
•
Keep the EPIRB upright
(hold it if necessary)
•
Switch on the EPIRB
DO NOT:
•
Place the EPIRB close to
large structures
•
Lay the ERIRB on its side
•
Place the EPIRB under
cover
