8 Lay-Up and Recommissioning
2. Remove the raw water pump cover and gasket and discard the old gasket. Install the raw
water pump impeller removed during lay-up (or a replacement, if required).
3. Install the raw water pump cover with a new cover gasket.
4. Reinstall the batteries that were removed before the lay-up period, and reconnect the
battery cables.
5. Clean the terminals, tighten the connections, and verify that the batteries are fully charged.
6. Remove the spark plugs, wipe clean, rotate the crankshaft two full revolutions, re-gap, and
re-install to proper tightness. Connect the high-tension leads or coil packs onto each spark
plug.
7. Start the engine and follow the initial startup procedures in 4.10 Checklist: Initial Startup.
