11.14 Identification of routed power cables

Switch off the fuses and power down the electrical cir-
cuits
The different wires in the cable must be twisted on one
side so that they are electrically conductive Connect the
transmitter with two poles to the cable to be tested at the
open cable side
Where several transmitters are used, the work effort for
moving the transmitter elsewhere When several trans-
mitters are used, every transmitter needs a separate
signal code
Move the receiver along the cables' twisted side The
respective signal code is indicated on the display The
cables can be identified.
11.15 Finding interruption in grid lines
This test does not require a transmitter
The mains cable must be under mains voltage
Put the transmitter into the contact-free voltage test mode "NCV" Move the
receiver along the mains cable starting at the outlet When the mains volt-
age is recognised, a signal sounds and the bar display is activated
When the break is reached, the sound goes out and the bar display disap-
pears
Note:
– The tone height and deflection of the bar display depends on the
distance and voltage height of the mains cable
– Repeat the test with the mains plug turned by 180° This prevents
overlooking an interruption of the neutral conductor
A higher tone is no secure sign for the voltage height, though Reliable voltage measurement is only pos-
sible with a suitable measuring device with a value display
