Base unit
With the base unit facing you, the antenna should be straight up on the right side, towards the back of the
unit. The handset's charging cradle is on the left of the base unit. This is an inch deep depression. For
charging, the bottom of the handset gets put into the cradle with the handset buttons facing up. The unit
will beep when the handset is properly placed in the cradle for charging. The handset can be placed in the
cradle in an inverted position. Moving toward the back of the unit on the right of the cradle, there is a
large rectangular textured area. This is the speaker.
In front of the speaker to the right is a large round button. This is the VOICE MAIL button. To the left of
the VOICE MAIL button, there is the CALLER IQ indicator light.
Below the VOICE MAIL button, there are 4 thin buttons in a vertical column: the top button is the AUTO
or PROGRAM button. Below is the REDIAL button. The REDIAL button is also the PAUSE button. The
third is the FLASH or CALL WAIT button. The fourth is the MUTE button. The MUTE button is also the
RINGER button. To the left of these buttons is the telephone keypad laid out in the conventional
telephone arrangement with a "nib" on the 5 buttons.
Below the telephone keypad, there are 3 thin buttons. The left-most one is the HOLD button, with an
indicator light to the right. The HOLD button is also the LOCATOR or INTERCOM button. To the right
of the HOLD button, 2 thin buttons are the VOLUME buttons with a raised "nib". The left one is to
decrease, the right one is to increase.
To the right of these buttons, a round button is the SPEAKERPHONE button, with an indicator light to
the upper left.
