Connecting to a computer

The EK‑50 is equipped with USB TO HOST port, which can be
used to connect to a computer, allowing this instrument to be
controlled using DAW software as a MIDI sound generator, or
to be used as a controller.
To connect the EK-50 to a computer via USB, install the KORG
USB-MIDI driver on your computer. Download the driver
from the Korg website, and install the driver by following the
accompanying documentation.

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a worldwide
standard for communicating various information between
electronic musical instruments and computers.
„ Connecting to a computer
Connect the USB A port of your Windows PC or Mac to the
USB TO HOST port of this instrument with a USB cable, and try
sending and receiving MIDI messages.
Tip:
For the MIDI‑related settings to make after connecting, see
"MIDI Clock" (page 23) and "Local Control" (page 23).
„ About MIDI channels
The MIDI channels that are used in style mode and song mode
when you select a user song are as follows.
Ch01: Upper 1 part
Ch02: Upper 2 part
Ch03: Upper 3 part
Ch04: Lower part
Ch09: Bass part
Ch10: Drum part
Ch11: Percussion part
Ch12–16: Other parts
Note:
Note that the MIDI channels used when playing back an
SMF will depend on the settings in that file.
