The cartridge will not eject
Potential Solution
1. Check that there is power to the drive.
2. The Prevent Media Removal function may be enabled. It is on
a per-host basis, but all hosts must allow media removal for
any of them to do so. Check each host for the status of the
PMR function.
3. Press and hold the Eject button for 10 seconds. Allow the drive
up to 15 minutes to eject (it is the maximum rewind time of the
cartridge.)
4. If the cartridge is still stuck, call for support
Potential Solution
1. Check that you are using LTO Ultrium 7 or 8 media. LTO
Ultrium 8 drives do not accept LTO Ultrium 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or
other non-LTO Ultrium media.
2. Check the orientation of the cartridge when loading into the
drive.
1. Check that the cartridge case is not cracked or split.
2. Check that the leader pin is not damaged. If it is, discard the
cartridge.
3. Check that the cartridge teeth are not damaged. If they are,
discard the cartridge.
4. If the drive will still not accept the cartridge, try using a new or
known good cartridge. If it loads, the original cartridge is faulty
and must be discarded.
5. If the original cartridge is accepted in another tape drive, the
original tape drive may be at fault. Check the interface
connection and that the tape drive is recognized by the backup
application.
1. Check that the drive is powered on.
2. If the drive still will not accept the cartridge, there may be a
problem with the drive's cartridge memory. Call for support.
