The PIP4x is a low power, high performance and rugged industrial embedded computer. It can be operated in
standard or even in harsh environment. The PIP4x has been designed for 24/7 operation and uses extended
lifecycle series processors. It can be used for any PC application where a complete solution is needed. The
Open-Frame variant is particularly suitable during the customer evaluation phase or for seamless integration
into customers project. The PIP4x offers up to 3 displays simultaneously, USB and legacy I/O, NVMe mass
storage, PCI Express x16 (Gen3), ECC protected system memory, TPM 2.0 and Intel AMT support.
Furthermore, various extensions can be provided, such as MXM graphic cards, serial buses and even
customized circuits. The PIP4x has the option to be battery powered to prevent power failures in safety-relevant
environments or working as a mobile device.

  • Page 27: Theory Of Operation

    The PIP4x includes a reverse polarity protection up to the reverse nominal supply voltage. If this condition occurs, switch the power supply off, connect it the right way and turn it on again for powering up the PIP4x. The load dump protection circuit limits the supply voltage to the maximum allowed voltage. To avoid an overheat condition in the load dump protection circuit, the PIP4x disables all internal power supplies after a few milliseconds.
